How I Work (2) - Action Analysis

iStock_000003755046XSmall.jpgNext, I have to see you performing your sport. It doesn't have to be in competition, but I need to see how you behave and move when performing at your best.

The dynamics and flow of your movement are critical to the improvement process. Mind and body cannot be separated at the highest levels of sport, and I need to see how you put them together. Even the interaction of your breathing and movement are important.

I don't use video analysis - I work with you in action, for 2 reasons:

  • I need to get a clear impression of how your mind and body work together, so that I can identify any negative patterns that have built up over time
  • You need to internalise the changes - to absorb new ways of moving and behaving. Analysis by watching videos is an externalised, intellectual exercise. What we will be seeking is a new way of feeling, thinking and doing - all at the same time.
